The best preparation for a barber visit is simple: arrive with a realistic idea of the result you want and be ready to explain which parts matter most. You do not need to use professional barbering terms.
Bring a useful reference photo
A photograph is useful when it clearly shows the sides, back and top of the haircut. One image from the front may not show where a fade begins or how the crown has been handled.
When showing a reference, explain what you like about it. For example:
- the length left on top;
- the shape around the fringe;
- how low or high the fade begins;
- the finish around the ears and neckline; or
- the way the beard connects to the haircut.
Hair texture, growth patterns and head shape affect the final result, so use the photo as a direction rather than an exact guarantee.
Know how short you are comfortable going
If you are unsure about clipper grades, describe what you want to see or feel. Saying that you want some coverage at the sides, or that you want the fade taken down to skin, is more useful than guessing a number.
Tell the barber if you have an event coming up or if you need the style to grow out in a particular way. If you have had a previous cut you liked, a photograph of your own haircut can be especially helpful.
Mention your normal routine
Explain how much time you usually spend styling your hair and which products you use. A cut that looks good after careful blow-drying may not suit someone who wants to wash, towel-dry and leave.
It also helps to mention any cowlicks, sensitive areas or sections that are difficult to control. Your barber can then account for them before removing length.
Include beard work when choosing the service
If you want both a haircut and beard trim, select a combined service rather than waiting until the haircut is nearly finished to mention it. Combined services reserve more chair time. Our current services and prices include standard and luxe beard options alongside gents cuts and skin fades.
Arrive with clean, manageable hair
Hair does not need to be freshly washed immediately before every appointment, but excessive product can hide its natural fall and make consultation harder. Avoid applying a heavy amount of wax, clay or gel before the visit where practical.

Bring one or two clear reference photographs, explain how short you are comfortable going, mention your normal styling routine and choose a service that includes everything you want done.
